Previously working in pastels and oils, I began to devote more
energy to watermedia in 1989.  After the initial concept,
different sketches are done to find the best uncluttered
composition.  Using very heavy Arches paper (300lb or 555lb)
a drawing is lightly laid out.  I use Windsor and Newton
paints.  My painting technique consists mostly of the use of
many layers of wash built up slowly over time
to achieve both luminosity and depth.
I also employ the use of dashes and dots
to create an illusion of different textures.

The scale of works are generally on the larger side ranging
from 30' X 38" up to 37" X 49".
Each piece takes anywhere from four weeks
to three months or longer to complete.

These works present ideas or stories through the use of
people and things as symbolism for interaction between
humans and nature.
The pieces are representational utilizing surrealism and
realism to achieve a new perspective and an emotional
interaction with the viewer.

Each piece contains familiar objects which invite the viewer
to interpret them at face value.
Once the viewer is engaged, the relationship of these
familiar objects to each otheris designed to become
the focus of inquiry.
Hopefully, that inquiry leads the viewer to question man's
relationship with nature outside of my paintings and also give
rise to further thoughts.

My source of inspiration comes from both
my dreams and my surroundings.

In art, the creative struggle gives form to thought resulting
in individual expression.

The challenge is to make a personal statement that
communicates with the viewer.

Thank you for visiting this site and I hope you enjoy the
works I have posted here.
